Dr. Nelson is an Assistant Professor, and Chief of the Neuropsychology Division within the Department of Neurological Sciences at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She is board certified through the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology. Her primary clinical interests include neuropsychological evaluations of adults and geriatric patients with memory and movement disorders. She particularly enjoys multidisciplinary teamwork and patient/caregiver education on coping with cognitive and emotional changes that may result from neurologic disease/injury.

Dr. Nelson became a member of the SCN Education Advisory Committee in 2020. She is passionate about education, training, mentorship, and supervision in Neuropsychology. In addition to her work as the Neuropsychology Fellowship and Practicum Training Director at UNMC, she serves on the Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN) Board of Directors (2019-2023) and is a member of the AACN Student Affairs Committee (2016-present). She also enjoys devoting time to other training and mentorship activities including acting as an ABCN Written Samples reviewer, contributing to the development of a BRAIN mock exam, and mentoring graduate students and peers through the AACN SAC Student Mentorship Program and AACN/ABCN Peer Mentorship Program.
