| Describe Research Opportunities at Your Site | Dr. Ellison's Socially Conscious lab merges her background and interest in neuropsychology and social justice. Prior to her training in neuropsychology, Dr. Ellison began her research and practice as a clinical/community psychologist, focused on better understanding ways to engage individuals, particularly those with varying levels of privilege, in social and racial justice. Dr. Ellison is a clinical neuropsychologist, with lifespan clinical expertise in neuropsychological assessment, cognitive rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury, and PTSD. See the links below for more information about ongoing research in her lab. She also engages in collaborative research with IITs Department of Nutrition and Food Science (on the impact of various nutritional interventions on cognitive functioning), Northwestern University (Dr. Emma Adam's BIO Study), as well as holds a formal WOC in both research and the Mental Health Service Line (MHSL) at the Edward Hines Jr., VA Hospital (with opportunities for students in her lab to engage in collaborative research with the Dr. Theresa Pape's TBI Research Team, as well as collaborative research related to Parkinson's disease and cognitive functioning with Dr. Sandra Kletzel. https://www.iit.edu/directory/people/rachael-ellison There are also a number both clinical as well as rehab psychology faculty that engage in research at IIT that students with an interest in neuropsychology may consider exploring. |
