Welcome

Welcome!  Thank you for recently joining the Society for Clinical Neuropsychology (SCN), Division 40 of the American Psychological Association!

We encourage you to become involved in SCN via our annual meetings, volunteer positions, and various listservs.  As part of the annual APA Convention in August, SCN sponsors a rich program of scientific, educational, and social activities. In addition, SCN conducts an annual business meeting, which is open to all members, and is always followed by a social hour. Membership in SCN is a conduit to resources available through APA, such as important information on advocacy and testing code changes.

SCN offers several listservs that are open to all interested individuals. All new members of the society are automatically added to the SCNNEURONEWS@lists.apa.org listserv, which is used to send out the newsletters, email blasts, and other division news.  Information and sign-up details for additional listservs is provided at the end of this letter.

Please visit the SCN website at in order to get to know your society better.  The website provides a variety of useful information, including an overview of SCN, training, resources for practitioners, teleneuropsychology, SCN committees and leadership, and volunteer opportunities.  Other links include the Women in Neuropsychology (WIN) and Ethnic Minority Affairs (EMA) committees. You may also find information about the Association for Neuropsychology Students in Training (ANST). Information relevant to early career neuropsychologists may be found on their pages. And don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest Division 40 news.

As part of your SCN membership, you will be receiving the SCN newsletter, which is published twice per year. The newsletter covers SCN’s official activities, notifies the membership of important issues and events, disseminates minutes of division business meetings, and provides a forum for the presentation and discussion of professional issues.

Finally, the strength of our society depends on the support of our members. With APA membership, you receive 10 “apportionment” votes. We urge you to apportion all of your 10 votes to the Society for Clinical Neuropsychology/Division 40. More apportionment votes will create a stronger voice for our division within the larger APA. As a reminder, SCN is a clinical neuropsychology interest society; therefore, membership should not be construed as a qualification for the practice of clinical neuropsychology.

Again, welcome to the Society for Clinical Neuropsychology, Division 40 of the American Psychological Association, and please contact us if you require any additional information about our organization.
